How to build Haunted Mansion in Minecraft

A crooked, decaying mansion in the spirit of the theme-park classic. The house sags and leans, its turret tilts, the cupola sits lopsided on a swaybacked roof, and the grey-green paint peels off the boards. Inside are a stretching portrait gallery, a ballroom of glass ghost couples posed mid-waltz, a cobwebbed dining hall, a séance room with a glowing crystal ball and an attic with a ghostly bride. Outside: an iron fence, a black hearse and horse at the gate, a dead garden of twisted trees and jack-o'-lanterns, a graveyard and a family crypt. More ghosts hang in the air round the house. Building tips

1. Build the house straight first, then shift every layer above the first floor one block west. Doing it in steps makes the lean look deliberate instead of like a mistake.
2. Peeling paint is a mix: mostly gray and green terracotta, a little cyan and light gray terracotta, and a few bare spruce boards where the paint has fallen off.
3. Let the roof ridge dip two blocks in the middle. A swaybacked roof is the quickest way to make a house look old and tired.
4. The ghosts are white and light blue stained glass. They look best against dark wallpaper, so line the ballroom in purple terracotta.
5. Lime and purple stained glass in the windows, with sea lanterns inside, gives the sickly green and violet glow. Switch to Night to see it.
6. For a jack-o'-lantern, carve the face out of an orange block pumpkin and put glowstone in the eyes and mouth.
7. Board some windows with spruce planks and leave a shutter missing here and there.
