How to build McDonald's in Minecraft

The classic red-roof McDonald's: a brick restaurant with big windows under a red mansard roof and yellow fascia, a tall pole sign with the golden arches, a drive-thru lane with a lit menu board and pickup window, a striped parking lot with cars, and a PlayPlace with towers, tubes, a slide and a ball pit. Inside are the front counter, menu boards, a full kitchen, red booths and tables.

Building tips

  1. Lay out the whole site first: the building, the drive-thru lane on the east side, the parking lot to the south and the PlayPlace to the west. Everything else hangs off those lines.
  2. The mansard roof is just three rings of red concrete: two layers sticking out one block past the walls, then one layer flush. The yellow band underneath sells it.
  3. Build the golden arches flat on the ground first if it helps, then copy them up onto the pole. Make them two blocks thick so they read from both sides.
  4. Paint the parking lines by swapping single gray concrete blocks for white concrete every four blocks. Leave the drive-thru lane line yellow so drivers know where to go.
  5. Put glowstone in the ceiling and sea lanterns in the menu boards so the place glows at night like a real restaurant.
  6. The PlayPlace tubes are hollow 3×3 squares of stained glass. Alternate the colours every few blocks to get that plastic playground look.
