How to build Statue of Liberty in Minecraft

Lady Liberty in weathered copper green: a flowing robe with deep folds and a diagonal stola, her right arm raised with the gilded torch flame, the tablet cradled in her left arm, and the seven-spiked crown with its row of windows. She stands on the granite pedestal with its loggia and balcony, on top of the eleven-pointed star of Fort Wood, surrounded by the lawns of Liberty Island.

Building tips

  1. Lay out the eleven-pointed star first. Mark the points and the inner corners on the ground, then join them with straight walls.
  2. The pedestal is hollow. Build each layer as a square outline, stepping in and out for the cornices, so it goes up quickly.
  3. Build the robe as a stack of ovals. The folds are just a bump in and out every few blocks; shade the hollows with dark prismarine and they will look deep.
  4. Prismarine is the closest thing to oxidised copper. Keep the whole statue in prismarine and dark prismarine so it reads as one metal casting.
  5. Do the raised arm and torch before the head, while you can still reach the shoulder from the scaffolding. The arm leans out a little to the west.
  6. Put glowstone inside the gold flame so the torch glows at night.
