How to build City Wok in Minecraft

Shitty Wok! Tuong Lu Kim's restaurant: a small storefront with the big red-and-yellow CITY WOK sign, red pillars, a dark tiled canopy with upturned corners, a glass front, and inside a counter, kitchen stoves, a menu board and a few tables. A snowy sidewalk and kerb finish it off.

Open the interactive 3D plan above to build it one layer at a time: every layer has a numbered top-down plan, a block list and full-screen step-by-step instructions you can tick off as you go. You can also download it for Litematica, WorldEdit or Minecraft Bedrock, or view it in your room in AR.

Building tips

  1. Start with the box: 43 wide, 12 deep and 16 tall. The upper half is only there to hold the sign, so you can leave it hollow.
  2. Build the sign before the canopy. Lay the red background first, then swap in yellow blocks for the letters; each letter is 3 wide and 5 tall with a two-block gap, and the W is 5 wide.
  3. The upturned corners are what make the roof look Chinese: put one extra stair on each end of the eaves, one block higher, with a gold block on the tip.
  4. Hang lanterns under the canopy between the pillars. They light the sidewalk at night and stop mobs spawning.
  5. Use bottom slabs on fence posts for the tables and stairs for the chairs. Face the chairs toward the tables.
