How to build Horse Stables & Paddock in Minecraft

An equestrian yard. A long red-brick stable block sits under a slate roof, with a covered shed row along the front held up by dark oak posts and lit by hanging lanterns. Six stalls have half doors with the top open, so the horses can look out. A central archway runs through the block under a white clock tower with clock faces on every side, an open belfry with a bell and a running-horse weathervane on the spire. A tack room with saddle racks sits at one end and an open-fronted hay barn at the other. Across the gravel lane a fenced sand paddock holds three show jumps, a water trough and two horses. A tied-up horse waits at the hitching rail, and a muck heap hides round the back.

Building tips

1. Make each stall door a single door block on the bottom row and leave the block above it open. That reads as a half door, and a brown block just inside makes a horse looking out.
2. Build the shed row as the long south slope of the main roof carried on two more steps of stairs over a row of posts. Hang a lantern between every pair of posts.
3. Start the clock tower inside the roof so it looks like it grows out of the ridge. Keep it white so it stands out against the slate, and push the clock faces one block proud of the wall.
4. Show jumps are just two painted posts with fence "poles" between them. Vary them: a plain upright, a red-and-white pair with two rails, and a little brick wall jump.
5. Use sand for the paddock floor with a few dirt path patches where the horses wear it down. A gravel lane between the stables and the paddock keeps the yard looking tidy.
6. Light the archway, the tack room and the paddock corners. The bell and the lantern-lit shed row glow nicely at night.
