How to build Millennium Falcon in Minecraft

The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, parked in Docking Bay 94. The 45-block saucer hull has the two forward mandibles, the offset cockpit tube on the starboard side with its ribbed canopy, quad laser turrets on top and bottom, a radar dish, and raised hull plating in white, light gray and gray with darker panel seams, scattered greebles and a few rusty red and orange patches. A wide band of blue engine glow wraps the stern. She sits on five landing legs with the boarding ramp down. Inside you can walk the curved corridor ring, sit at the holochess table in the main hold (its tiny glowing figures are mid-game), climb to the gun wells, and take the pilot's seat in the cockpit. The sandstone bay has a landing circle, floor lights, fuel lines, stacked cargo crates and a familiar little astromech droid.

Building tips

1. Build the saucer as a heightmap: decide the top and bottom height for each column (thick in the middle, about 3 blocks at the rim) and place only the surface. The hull stays hollow so you can fit rooms inside.
2. Cut the notch between the mandibles before plating: the gap is 5 blocks wide and runs back into the disc, and the mandibles stick out 12 blocks past the rim.
3. Plate the top in panels, not random noise. Mark ring seams and radial seams in a darker gray first, then fill each panel with a single colour. A few red and orange panels make it look patched and lived in.
4. For the engine glow, put sea lanterns behind light blue stained glass all along the rear rim. At Night it becomes a bright blue band.
5. The cockpit is a cylinder on the starboard side with a cone at the front. Leave the cone's top half as dark glass with white ribs every few blocks.
6. Greebles are what sell it: sprinkle slabs, iron blocks and andesite on top of the plating, mostly near the seams and around the turret.
7. Make the interior with ring walls at two radii for the corridor, then split the rest with straight walls: main hold forward-starboard, cargo forward-port, engineering aft.
