How to build Giant Mushroom Village in Minecraft

A fairy-tale village of giant mushrooms on a mossy meadow. The big red-and-white toadstool is a three-storey home with round doors and porthole windows carved into its stalk, and a spiral staircase winds up the outside to a terrace on top of the cap. A wide flat brown cap makes a picnic deck, a magenta toadstool holds a bedroom, and a tall cyan mushroom glows like a deep-sea creature, with a balcony around its stalk. Rope bridges link the caps, glowstone and sea lanterns glow in the gills underneath, little mushrooms sprout everywhere, and fireflies glow over a lily pond. Building tips

1. Build each cap as a stack of circles that shrink as they rise, like a dome. Use concrete for strong colour: red, magenta and cyan pop against the white stalks.
2. Spots look best as small clusters of 2–4 white blocks, scattered unevenly. Avoid a regular grid; real toadstool spots are random.
3. The gills are the underside of the cap: lay a ring of terracotta from the stalk to the rim, and swap every few blocks for glowstone or sea lanterns so the cap glows from underneath at night.
4. For a round window on a round stalk, place five glass in a plus shape and frame the diagonals with birch planks. A 2-tall door with planks around it and a block above reads as a round hobbit door.
5. Spiral stairs: put one stair against the stalk on each layer, moving one block round the stalk each time, and add a fence on the outside edge.
6. Leave the stalks hollow for the rooms inside. A ladder against the inside wall reaches each floor and climbs through the cap to the terrace.
7. Moss blocks, moss carpet and tiny 1–3 block mushrooms hide the edges where the stalks meet the ground.
8. In survival, fireflies can be glow lichen or a few hidden glowstone blocks over the pond; here they are torches dotted in the air.
