How to build Atlantis Underwater City in Minecraft

A lost city on the sea floor, sealed under a 57-block glass dome braced by twelve prismarine ribs. Inside, three terraced rings climb to a white-and-gold palace with four gilded spires and a golden orrery under the dome's crown. Columned quartz temples sit on the middle terrace, coral gardens and kelp groves line the streets, and sea lanterns light every avenue. Outside, schools of fish hang in the water round the dome above a sandy reef with rocks, coral and the broken hull of a sunken ship.

Building tips

1. Lay the sand floor and the ring of dark prismarine at the dome's foot first. Every other part of the build is measured from that circle.
2. Build the dome one layer at a time from the 2D grid, ribs first. The prismarine ribs give you something to hold on to and make it much easier to keep the glass curve true.
3. The terraces are only shells: a retaining wall of quartz bricks and a one-block top. Fill them solid only if you want to dig cellars later.
4. In survival, build the dome before draining it. Place sand or sponge columns, close the glass, then clear the inside. Without that step the city fills with water.
5. Coral blocks die out of water, so in a dry dome use pink, magenta, purple and yellow concrete and wool for the gardens the way this plan does. Real coral works on the outside reef.
6. The fish here are coloured blocks held in the water. In game, release real tropical fish around the dome, or place a few coloured blocks and take away whatever you stood them on.
