How to build Pirate Galleon in Minecraft

A full three-masted pirate warship riding the waves. The dark-oak hull carries two gun decks with 44 cannons poking out of red-lidded gun ports, a raised forecastle, and a towering stern castle with gold-framed windows and three big stern lanterns. Inside the captain's cabin you will find a map table, a bed, bookshelves and a treasure chest spilling gold. Black sails billow from three masts with a white skull and crossbones on the main course, rat-lines climb to the fighting top and the crow's nest, and the Jolly Roger flies from the masthead. A gilded mermaid figurehead rides under the bowsprit and jib, rowing boats hang from davits, the anchor hangs at the cathead, and nearby a rocky island with a palm tree hides an X that marks the buried treasure.

Building tips

1. Build the hull from the middle outward. Lay one cross-section (a U shape that is widest at the gun decks and narrows to the keel), then copy it along the ship, narrowing it to a point at the bow and to a flat transom at the stern.
2. Keep the hull hollow: only the outer skin, the decks and the cannons are needed. It saves thousands of planks and gives you real gun decks to walk through.
3. Gun ports go every third block on both gun decks. Push a black block out through the hull for each muzzle and put a red block above it as the open port lid.
4. Let the sails billow: shift the middle rows of each sail one or two blocks toward the bow and leave the edges on the yard. It instantly looks like wind is filling them.
5. Paint the skull and crossbones onto the main sail by swapping black wool for white wool. Draw it on paper as a grid first; 13 by 11 is enough for a clear skull.
6. Iron bars make great rigging: a vertical bar every other block for the shrouds and a full row every second layer for the rat-lines the crew climb.
7. Light the stern castle with lanterns and the cabin with a hanging lantern. At night the gold-framed windows glow over the water.
