How to build Beverly Hills Villa in Minecraft

A sprawling Mediterranean estate. Cream stucco wings with red clay tile roofs wrap a courtyard with a three-tier fountain, arched loggias run along every side, and a three-storey entrance tower greets you at the end of a long palm-lined drive behind iron gates. Out back there is a big pool with striped cabanas and loungers, a full-size tennis court and a three-bay garage with a red sports car in the motor court.

Building tips

  1. Peg out the whole estate on the ground first: the house, pool, tennis court and drive. Things this big are hard to move later.
  2. Spanish tile roofs are shallow. Each ring of brick stairs steps in one block and up one block, so a hip roof stays low and wide.
  3. An arch is two upside-down stairs facing away from each other on top of the opening. Repeat it every three blocks for an arcade.
  4. Use smooth sandstone for every column, arch and window surround so the trim reads against the white terracotta stucco.
  5. Palm trunks lean a little and the fronds droop: two blocks flat out from the top, then step down one block per block.
  6. Cherry leaves draped over walls and arches make convincing bougainvillea.
