How to build Victorian Mansion in Minecraft

A Queen Anne "painted lady" in purple, teal and cream. A three-storey round turret with a witch-hat roof and weathervane, steep slate gables with fish-scale shingles, a wraparound porch with spindle railings and gingerbread trim, bay windows, two brick chimneys and a white picket fence around a cottage garden.

Building tips

  1. Victorian roofs are steep. Rise two blocks for every block inward: a full block, then a stair on top of it, then step in.
  2. Paint each storey a different colour and frame everything in cream. Corner boards, floor bands, window surrounds and the gable edges are what make it a painted lady.
  3. Build the turret after the main roof so its wall cuts cleanly through the eaves.
  4. For the fish-scale gables, alternate two colours in a checkerboard that shifts every row.
  5. Fences at the bottom and again at the top of the porch posts read as spindle railings and a spindle frieze.
  6. The witch-hat roof flares out one block wider than the turret wall before it tapers to a point.
