How to build Grand Mansion in Minecraft

The dream base: a symmetrical smooth-quartz mansion with a two-storey portico of six columns under a tall pediment, an iron balcony over the front doors, two wings with hipped deepslate roofs, dormers and chimneys. Inside is a black-and-white marble foyer with a double staircase, a gallery and a chandelier, plus a library, a dining room and two bedrooms. Outside there is a circular drive around a fountain, formal hedge gardens, lamp-lit paths and a back terrace with a swimming pool.

Building tips

1. Mark out the three blocks first: the centre block is 25 x 19 and each wing is 16 x 15, sharing a wall with the centre. Everything else lines up with those corners.
2. Both storeys are the same on every face: ground-floor windows are 4 tall, upper ones 3 tall, and a quartz pillar pilaster stands one block proud between each window. Do one bay, then repeat it.
3. Build the hipped roofs as rings of deepslate tile stairs, one block in and one block up each layer. Do the wings first and stop their inner ends where they meet the centre roof.
4. The pediment is a gable that runs from the front of the portico back into the main roof. Its ridge lands exactly on the main ridge, so count the layers carefully.
5. Upside-down quartz stairs under each window make sills, and normal stairs above make hoods. That small step of depth is what makes a white wall look expensive.
6. Lay the drive, the pool and the paving before planting hedges and trees so you can still walk everywhere while you work.
