How to build Mystery Machine in Minecraft

Scooby-Doo's groovy van, parked on a dirt lane right outside a creepy old graveyard gate. It has a light-blue top, a lime-green lower body with orange flowers, big orange "MYSTERY" lettering down one side and "MACHINE" down the other, round glowing headlights and the spare tyre bolted to the front. Zoinks!

Open the interactive 3D plan above to build it one layer at a time: every layer has a numbered top-down plan, a block list and full-screen step-by-step instructions you can tick off as you go. You can also download it for Litematica, WorldEdit or Minecraft Bedrock, or view it in your room in AR.

Building tips

  1. Start with the four wheels. They are 4×4 black circles with a grey hub, and they set the length of the van: 25 blocks from bumper to back door.
  2. Build the van as a hollow box first (9 wide, 9 tall), then paint it: three rows of lime concrete at the bottom, light blue above.
  3. The letters are 3 blocks wide and 5 tall, placed with no gaps. Alternating orange and white letters keeps them readable. Count the columns on the layer grid as you go.
  4. Glowing sea lanterns make great headlights. Switch to Night mood and the van lights up the spooky lane.
  5. Use mossy cobblestone and stone brick for the gate pillars so they look old and haunted.
