How to build Shrek's Swamp House in Minecraft

What are you doing in his swamp? Shrek's home is a giant hollow tree stump with a mossy top, a stone chimney and a round wooden door. Around it are the famous outhouse, a crooked mailbox, warning signs to keep visitors out and a murky pond with lily pads, cattails and squelchy mud. Inside there is a fireplace, a table and a bed.

Building tips

  1. Build the stump as a ring of logs nine blocks across. Mixing spruce and dark oak logs gives it rough, patchy bark.
  2. Add roots by running logs sideways out from the bottom of the stump. Uneven lengths look more natural.
  3. The round door is just planks in an arch shape. Put a real door in the middle of it if you want to walk in.
  4. Mud in game is a real block: splash water on dirt with a bottle, or use brown terracotta. Lily pads go straight onto still water.
  5. The signs are too small for pixel letters, so place oak signs on the boards and write KEEP OUT and BEWARE OGRE on them.
  6. Use lanterns and a fire in the fireplace so the swamp glows at night.
