How to build Squidward's House in Minecraft

Squidward Tentacles' moai-head house: a tall slate-blue stone head with a heavy brow, a long nose, porthole eyes for windows and the front door in its mouth. It sits on the same sandy sea floor as the Pineapple Under the Sea build, with kelp and coral around it, and it is hollow, with an easel and a bed inside for Squidward.

Open the interactive 3D plan above to build it one layer at a time: every layer has a numbered top-down plan, a block list and full-screen step-by-step instructions you can tick off as you go. You can also download it for Litematica, WorldEdit or Minecraft Bedrock, or view it in your room in AR.

Building tips

  1. Build the plain box first (9 wide, 7 deep, 15 tall), then add the face on the front. The brow, nose and lips all stick out one block, and the nose tip sticks out two.
  2. Sprinkle a few cyan terracotta blocks into the light blue terracotta so it looks like weathered stone, and use dark gray only for the eye rims, nostrils and mouth.
  3. Leave the eye windows set back under the brow. That shadow is what makes the face look grumpy.
  4. Put glowstone or sea lanterns inside near the eyes so the windows glow at night.
  5. Build it next to the Pineapple Under the Sea, with Patrick's Rock on the other side, for the whole street.
