How to build TARDIS in Minecraft

The Doctor's blue police box: panelled doors with white-framed windows, the black "POLICE BOX" sign band, a stepped roof and a glowing lamp on top. Climb down the ladder inside and it really is bigger on the inside: a round white console room, wider than the box itself, hides under the lawn with a glowing time rotor in the middle.

Open the interactive 3D plan above to build it one layer at a time: every layer has a numbered top-down plan, a block list and full-screen step-by-step instructions you can tick off as you go. You can also download it for Litematica, WorldEdit or Minecraft Bedrock, or view it in your room in AR.

Building tips

  1. Build the four corner posts first, then fill each face. The frame (posts, middle post and rails) sits one block further out than the panels, which gives the doors real depth.
  2. Blue concrete for the frame and blue wool for the panels is a subtle two-tone that looks great up close. Lapis blocks also work if you have them.
  3. The sign band is too small for full pixel letters, so in game place oak signs on the black band and write POLICE BOX on them. Dark oak signs blend in best.
  4. To walk in, swap the two lowest middle panels on the front for a pair of doors (spruce or dark oak look closest to blue).
  5. Dig the console room before you build the box: a circle 15 blocks across and 7 deep. Then the ladder shaft is easy to line up.
  6. Hang a lantern inside the box so the windows glow at night, just like the real one.
