How to build Giant Rubber Duck in Minecraft

Bath time for someone very, very large. A sky-blue clawfoot bathtub on golden feet holds a pool of real water, and floating in it is a giant yellow rubber duck with an orange beak, a perky tail and big shiny black eyes. Three ducklings paddle along behind, a pink bar of soap drifts by as a little island, the taps are still running and soap bubbles float up into the air.

Open the interactive 3D plan above to build it one layer at a time: every layer has a numbered top-down plan, a block list and full-screen step-by-step instructions you can tick off as you go. You can also download it for Litematica, WorldEdit or Minecraft Bedrock, or view it in your room in AR.

Building tips

  1. Build the tub first: a rounded rectangle two blocks thick, light blue outside and white inside, raised three blocks off the floor on gold claw feet. Then fill it with water two blocks deep.
  2. The duck is three blobs: a wide, low body sitting half in the water, a round head on top toward the front, and a small blob for the tail that tips up at the back.
  3. Make the beak flat and wide, two blocks tall and five wide. A rubber duck beak sticks straight out like a shelf.
  4. Each eye is a 3 by 3 black patch with one white block near the top: that little shine is what makes it look like squeaky plastic instead of a real bird.
  5. Hide a few sea lanterns in the tub floor under the water. They light the bath at night and stop mobs spawning in it.
