How to build Lard Lad Donuts in Minecraft

Springfield's finest (and only) donut shop. A cheerful white shop with pink trim, a striped awning and a big LARD LAD sign, and on the roof the giant Lard Lad himself: a chubby kid with a brown quiff, blue overalls and a red checked shirt, hoisting a pink-frosted donut with sprinkles that is bigger than the shop door. Inside there is a counter full of donuts. Out front Homer stands by his pink sedan, clutching a donut and gazing up at the big one.

Building tips

1. Build the shop first: a 25 by 12 box five blocks tall with a flat roof. Lard Lad stands right in the middle of the roof, so mark that spot before you start him.
2. The donut is a flat ring three blocks thick. Draw a circle 13 wide, cut a 5-wide hole in the middle, then cover the front face in pink and dot it with sprinkles of every colour.
3. For the checked shirt, alternate red and white blocks like a chessboard. It makes him look like a proper roadside statue from far away.
4. His arms go straight up, so the hands touch the bottom of the donut on either side of his head. Build the arms and the donut together so they meet.
5. Light the shop with glowstone in the ceiling and sea lanterns behind the sign letters, then try Night mood: the windows glow like a real late-night donut stop.
